We’re not the largest department at UBC, but there are still quite a few people in EDST. As a result, if can be difficult to keep track of who’s who. Here are some of the different bodies, groups, and roles, you might need to know during your time at EDST:
The Graduate Academic Assistants (GAAs) are a team of graudate students from EDST who are paid by the Department to enhance the experience of their fellow graduate students. This includes developing support resources (such as this site), organising social events, supporting students’ development as researchers, among other things.

Student voice within the Department is mobilised through the volunteer Student Representatives. Many of the decision-making and consultative bodies in the Department have a student representative on them. If you have a point which you would like raised in any area of the Department, you can bring it to the Student Representative for that body. A list of the current Representatives can be found here:
